my latest quilt from Better Homes & Gardens Creative Collection American Patchwork & Quilting Oct 2008

Hi everyone--I'm back

I went to China for 17 days just got home on May 4th, what a trip, needless to say i did not find any quilting fabric but did get a beautiful pc of silk, i will make a vest out of it--pretty spendy for the "Meters" i bought, i just asked for 36 inches and they turned it into meters.  What a wonderful trip, i walked the Great Wall and saw so much of China, by the time i got home i was dead tired and came down with a misserable cold.  There  were 21 of us on the tour and 14 of us got sick on the food, ---ever had food poisoning???it's awful!!! Not eating chinese food for awhile!!!!!!!

So now i'm thinking i had better start thinking about another quilt project, i think my sewing machine has been missing me---can a sewing machine pout????  So i'm back in the saddle again.  pb

Here it is April Fools day and mother nature pulled another joke on us here in Wisconsin with another snow storm, don't know how much we are going to get but it's 6:15AM and it's snowing----we have had it with this winter thing--thank goodness we have quilts to make.

I am attaching a crib size quilt i made for the earth quake people of Japan, I hope some child will find some comfort from thier trials..

And a good morning to you all---pb

Today I finished  one of the quilts I started at our retreat, turned out pretty good.  it's a 9 patch made with 5 inch blocks, multil colors in 8 of them randamly picked and the red one in the middle of everyone.  After making the 9 patch you cut it into 4's and re-arrange them.  I added some treasure hunted counted cross stitch for a bit of interest.  I find these counted cross stitch at garage sales, thrift stores and antique sales.  they are so beautiful, someone spent hours making them and they are tossed away to a garage sale so I rescue them into my quilts.  My labels are made from antique hankys, or linens. see my pictures on facebook -----Doug Pat Brewer--- Gota love quilting --pb

Quilt Retreat

Wow! what a fun time we had at Ginny's Nortwoods Quilt Camp, I got 1 whole top completed and 2/3 of another, it was great seeing some of our quilt camp friends.  Good food, good accomodations and lots of time to sew.  I am busy quilting one of the tops right now and will post a picture as soon as I am done.

This is the year of the scrappy quilts as I am determined to reduce my stash--there will be many quilts this year and all will be scrappy.  Have a wonderful day everyone.  pb
